This is what happens when you enter the "10128" zip code
It’s not entirely open wherefore, but reports have confirmed that AT&ere;T (NYSE: T) has stopped merchandising their iPhone through via onlines sales to anyone in the New York metro expanse. The iPhones are still being sold in AT&T and Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) stores throughout the expanse, but is block online iPhone orders from anyone with an NYC zip code. Earlier today, The Consumerist reported that an AT&T client service example, named Daphne, said that New House of York just didn’t “rich person enough towers to grip the earphone.” Another AT&ere;T client service representative told Gearlog that the reason for halted online iPhone gross sales was “increased fraudulent activity in that expanse when order the iphone.” Hmmm.
Higher levels of iPhone sales fraud in The Big Apple sounds like a fairly plausible understanding for suspending online sales. The iPhone is distillery being sold in New House of York area Apple and AT&ere;T retail stores, which lends more credibleness to that line of thinking. There is, however, a more provacative motivation underlying the iPhone-halt. AT&T chief executive officer Ralph de la Vega recently mentioned that AT&ere;T is thinking about managing wireless information traffic in some means. Limiting iPhone sales in dense metros might be one means of doing that. But, then again, that’s all just speculation.
