Samsung Omnia II and Nokia N900 screens compared in direct sunshine

Mon, Dec 28, 2009

nokia, samsung, woofeed

This is a pretty nice video recording comparison… the Samsung Omnia II OLED screen versus the Nokia (New York Stock Exchange: NOK) N900 liquid crystal display screen. Now, OLED/AMOLED has become a somewhat popular subject of late, because it appears to spring a very vivid yet balanced effigy, when compared with some of the slightly older blind technologies. But that’s no goodness of course, if you can’t see anything in sunlight!

Well we motivation not have worried – in this trial, the Samsung Omnia II (packing an OLED screen) comes out much bettor than the N900 in price of reproducing the same music video recording (a fade of Europop) position by side.

Now there has been criticism of what I guess you could call the first base generation of OLED screens in mobile devices, in that you couldn’t see them in strong sunshine at all – but advances have clearly been made, and without knowing ins and outs of the tests (which of course of action is the all important caveat here), it does at least seem that Samsung have conquered the problem!
