T-Mobile Eases up on SIM Unlocking
Wed, Jan 20, 2010
Frequent travelers will be happy to hear that as of January 21, T-Mobile (New York Stock Exchange: DT) will now be dishing out unlock codes to 40-solar day-old FlexPay and PostPaid customers, and prepaid customers after 60 days of inspection and repair (versus 90 days previously). Even if you’re leaving T-Mobile River, you can get an unlock code for your old earpiece if you’re in goodness standing and had spent at least 40 years with them. As nice as it would be if these changes were borne of competitive pressures and good will towards customers, they’re actually the direct product of a legal liquidation. Still, you can’t complain with results, especially if it makes switch GSM carriers that much easier.
